Looking for inspiration for something to post, this one was just too easy! 40 years ago today The Beatles needed some fresh air during the stressful filming of the "Let it Be" sessions and played for the last time in front of any kind of public; even if that public only happened to be stunned neighbors and passersby! This is 20 minutes of pure rock and roll greatness!

Phish Rings in the New Year
Phish continued its annual run of New Years Eve shows with 4 smoking nights in New York's Madison Square Garden. The band has honestly never sounded better and each night was a smoker. The run was capped off with an insane ringing in 2013 which featuring golf carts, dancers, fireworks, Fishman wearing an argyle sweater, some vertically challenged people, and background singers during the "has to be seen to be believed" "Tweezer Reprise". This video is proof that being there was more fun then anything you did on New Year's!

The Coolest Thing You Will Hear Today!
Have you ever wanted to hear Tom Waits and Keith Richards sing the classic "Shenandoah"?! Me either....but now that I have I'm sure glad I did. This is really wonderful! I wonder if any drinking went down at the session.....
As an added bonus, check out Jerry Garcia's very, very sweet version below.

David Bowie is Back!!!
In the best music news since the invention of the Ipod, David Bowie choose to celebrate his 66 birthday today by giving fans a completely unexpected present; his first new song/video in over 10 years (with a new album to follow in March). The song is called "Where Are We Now" and from my ears is one of the most direct and poignant tracks of his almost 50 year career.
It would take a much longer post to explain how much Bowie influenced me personally as a youth as well as how much he influenced what types of music I listen to, but let's just say this song actually brought tears to my eyes. I'm sure in the subsequent hype for the album release Bowie will explain his 10 year absence from music and the public but today I am just so happy to have someone with so much creativity and brilliance back doing it for us.
From the bottom of my fanboy heart.....welcome back David and Happy Birthday. Thanks for the gift!!
